A Reuters Institute analysis of COVID-19 misinformation has identified that most cases ‘spun, twisted, recontextualised, or reworked’ true information, but that fewer cases were completely fabricated.
Amongst the findings, the factsheet identified that reconfigured misinformation accounted for 87% of social media interactions in the sample; the fabricated content, for 12%.
