Sensor-y Walks: Exploring Air Pollution in Oxford

A guided 20 minute walk, using air sensors to see how pollution varies in locations across the city centre.

As part of the 2021 ESRC Festival of Social Science, DPhil student Kayla Schulte (Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science) led members of the public on a fascinating guided walk around Oxford city centre, using air sensors to explore in real time how pollution varies in different locations within the city.

The participants and researchers shared their personal experiences of air pollution and, together, tested out different types of air sensors, before returning to the Museum to explore the data they had discovered and to learn more about how we can help tackle air pollution.
