Getting your DPhil off to a flying start

Starting at Oxford inevitably means receiving a lot of information from various sources, often with little time to process or reflect on it. This foundational course takes a step back and helps you slot the information you've gathered into the bigger picture, see how things fit together and ask any questions that may emerge. Along the way, we'll complete your first Training Needs Analysis to help you plan your training and development priorities. This will be a productive and social use of 2 hours that will set you off to a flying start!

Objectives:

1. To understand the lifecycle of your DPhil
2. To know what support is available outside your department and how to access it
3. To reflect on your development as a researcher during your DPhil
4. To complete a draft TNA for discussion with your supervisor
5. To meet students outside your department
