Nominations for Teaching Excellence Awards 2020-21 are now open

Nominations are now open!

The Social Sciences Division run a teaching excellence recognition scheme each year. The scheme formally recognises the outstanding contribution to teaching and learning and the academic development of students shown by colleagues across the Division. The scheme has two strands: (i) unfunded Teaching Excellence Awards (TEA) recognising individuals’ exceptional contribution to education by colleagues at any career-stage; (ii) funded Teaching Development and Enhancement Project (TDEP) grants for projects focussed on enhancing teaching and benefiting a number of students. The Division are now accepting nominations for unfunded Teaching Excellence Awards (TEA), and the deadline for receipt of applications is noon on Friday 26 March 2021.

TEA nominations may be made under one of four categories of award:

a) Individual awards for academic staff. Open to all academic staff. Around three to six awards will be made.

b) Individual awards for academic staff (Early Careers stream). Open to all academic staff who are within the first five years of their careers as a University teacher. Up to three awards will be made.

c) Excellence in Supervision Award. Open to all academic staff who undertake DPhil supervision. Around three to six awards will be made.

d) Achievement Award. Individuals who have demonstrated high quality and sustained commitment to education throughout their career (normally a minimum of 15 years or equivalent experience). Up to three awards will be made.

Applications under (a) to (c) may be made directly by individuals or by Head of Department nomination. Nominations under (d) must be made by Heads of Department. Colleagues are encouraged to refer to the guidance notes for further information about the scheme and how to apply. Any further questions should be directed to Anna Warrington, qa@socsci.ox.ac.uk. Award decisions will be made in early Trinity term.

A second round of funding for Teaching Development and Enhancement Project (TDEP) grants will be announced later in Hilary term.
