Doctoral Davos event 2020

Celebrating doctoral partnerships

The ESRC's Grand Union Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) held a collaboration fair for DPhil/PhD students last month. Titled 'Doctoral Davos', the event brought together around 50 doctoral students with representatives from 15 partner organisations from business, government, and the third sector. Through a series of keynotes, panel discussions, and networking events, the event aimed to explore opportunities for research collaboration as a means to enhance the societal impact of doctoral research.

Organisations represented at the event included Google, the Bank of England, IOM, the CBI, the Gapminder Foundation, Deloitte, Oxford Policy Management, and Oxford City Football Club. Marieme Jamme, the CEO of iamtheCODE - an organisation which aims to train 1 million girls in coding by 2030 - gave the opening keynote and at the event. The DTP launched a new brochure outlining a 'menu of options' for collaborative placement opportunities, include 3 month placements by students in partner organisation.
